Film & production catering Auckland
Crew catering has a particular problem: the food is ordered hours before anyone eats it, nobody knows exactly when the break lands, and the dietary list is longer than the call sheet. Food that's designed to be served cold solves most of that on its own.
Built for a shifting schedule
Fresh rolls, bánh mì and bowls don't have a window. They're as good at 2pm as they were at 11am, so a delayed setup doesn't wreck lunch. Nothing needs a bain-marie, a power outlet or a hot box, which matters on location.
Everything is individually portioned. Crew grab and go rather than queue at a serving table, and there's no plated meal going cold on a tray while someone finishes a take.
The dietary list
This is usually where production catering falls over. Our position:
- Every box can be built vegetarian; three can be built fully vegan
- Three can be built gluten friendly (no gluten-containing ingredient; the kitchen isn't a gluten-free one)
- Chicken and duck come from halal suppliers, with pork and beef left out on request — our kitchen isn't halal certified
Send the numbers and we'll build the split into the order rather than handing you separate boxes to sort out on set.
Ordering
Each box feeds 8–10 at $130 to $150, which is $13.00 to $18.75 a head. Order by 7pm the day before for next-working-day delivery. Delivery is approximately $2 per kilometre with a $20 minimum, within 12km of Sylvia Park, St Lukes or Botany. For multi-day shoots or a standing account, email catering@rolld.nz.
